How does the transition from the physical Edenred Gift card to the virtual card work?

Edenred is evolving the Edenred Gift solution towards a new dedicated virtual card. At the end of the transition period, from 7 to 14 September, the entire Edenred Gift voucher balance of your employees who still hold one will be automatically transferred from their physical Edenred card to the new Edenred Gift virtual card.

No action is required on your part as an employer: the switch and the loading are managed by Edenred. The ordering procedure remains unchanged. Only the card format is changing, and its issuance is completely free of charge.

What happens during this transition?

• Your employees’ Edenred Gift voucher balance will be unavailable from 7 to 14 September 2026.
• A new virtual card will be generated for your employees, visible and ready to be activated from their MyEdenred account. They will then need to add it to their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. 
• The balance will be transferred without this resulting in any invoice being issued (a financially neutral accounting operation for you).

The red physical Edenred card remains valid for your employees’ Edenred Meal vouchers and will continue to be usable for food purchases during and after the transfer period of the Edenred Gift vouchers.
